Ellie Walker (b. 1995) graduated from City & Guilds of London Art School with an MA in Fine Art in 2025, and lives and works in London.
Her practice explores the tension between control and release through cyclical, material-led processes. Embracing uncertainty and failure, she invites disruption in the studio, allowing the medium to assert its own agency and shape unexpected outcomes. Working with loose washes and gestural marks, Walker translates her inner world onto unstretched canvas, often rotating, tearing, and reassembling works to disrupt orientation and hold multiple temporal moments. Her process moves between physical intensity and stillness, guided by responsiveness rather than control. The resulting paintings act as layered archives of time, experience, and emotion, shaped through cycles of collapse and renewal.
