Anna Woodward is a London-based artist creating surreal, imagined worlds that sit between utopia and dystopia, where biomorphic forms and traces of the human-made coexist.
Working primarily in layered oil on linen, she explores depth, scale, and composition to immerse the viewer. Influenced by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Hieronymus Bosch, Ithell Colquhoun, and Judy Chicago, her work combines fluid washes with highly rendered organic forms. Through repetition and evolving motifs, her paintings construct overgrown, otherworldly landscapes that emphasise transformation and surrealism.
