Her academic research pivots around feminism, nonlinear philosophy, and situationism but allows her work to express this holistically rather than directly, amplifying colour and pattern to achieve sometimes naive paintings, prints, and drawings. In naïveté, she finds honest expressions of self, of creativity, and reclaiming femininity through a rejection of the establishment. Gala's paintings of hermitages express a semi-fictional history of outsiders and recluses, demonstrating interest in individual creativity and independence. In her collaborative performance works, she aspires to explore the barrier between society and the individual.
